Enterprise History

AS “Būvuzņēmums Restaurators” is the largest, oldest and most rich in tradition of art restoration enterprise in Latvia, which carried out restoration of almost all significant cultural, historical and architectural sites in the country.

For over 65 years the main task of the enterprise has been preservation and restoration of cultural monuments of national importance. And the experience of artists and craftsmen, which has been gained in countless objects for all these years, now serves for the implementation of various unique projects and ideas; it is almost inestimable.

The company was founded in May 25, 1951 under the original name “Industrial Workshop of Scientific Restoration”. This name was kept until October 1, 1962, after which a new one was introduced – “Engineering Design Bureau for Scientific Restoration” (1965). In 1988 it turned into “Restoration Institute”, afterwards – AS “Restaurators” (1993), until in 2004 it acquired its present name – AS “Būvuzņēmums Restaurators” (Building company – Restorer).

AS “Būvuzņēmums Restaurators” is the only construction company in Latvia, which has been working for more than 65 years and is proud of the fact that it did not stop operating during this period, even for a while (despite the change of the political system and other upheavals that could suspend it). During the subsistence of the enterprise, several generations of restorers and builders have changed, however there are those among its employees who have been working at the company for over 40 years.
