The Facade of the Riga State Gymnasium No.1 is Restored

[04] Facade With Night Lighting (Riga State Gymnasium No. 1)

The facade of the building of the Riga State Gymnasium No.1 (which is located in Riga, 8 Rainis Boulevard) built in 1874 by the project of the famous architect Johann Daniel Felsko was restored in 2018. This work was commissioned by the Riga City Council Property Department at AS “Būvuzņēmums Restaurators”.

Prior to the restoration works, the facade of the building of the Riga State Gymnasium No.1 was in poor technical condition, as many of the beautiful decorative elements of the bright building had serious damage.

During the restoration, almost 3000 square meters of building space was restored. Almost 1000 meters of various tin covering elements (window sills, cornices and other) were replaced on the facade. Separate decorative elements of the building were carefully renewed and completely restored.

173 different lighting elements, emphasizing the architectural forms of the building at night, were installed on the facade.
